Ben King
Partner/VFX Supervisor
He got his start in the industry by creating visual effects for commercials, where he developed a strong foundation as a generalist. Soon after, he moved on to work at Mr. X, focusing his efforts on lighting. While at Mr.X, Ben was the lead lighting artist on several projects, including Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and the Academy Award-winning best picture, The Shape of Water. In search of an exciting new opportunity, Ben joined the team at DNEG, a studio with a long history of winning academy awards of their own.
With this diverse base of experience, combined with deep technical knowledge and artist sensibility, Ben helps bridge the gap between the technical and creative departments. As head of the CG department at Herne Hill, Ben manages his team working on multiple projects while also helping to define pipeline goals and workflows.
Ben’s other notable credits include Guillermo del Toro’s gothic romance, Crimson Peak, the first season of Apple’s acclaimed sci-fi drama Foundation, and Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters Afterlife.
Ben has a Bachelor of Information Technology from Carleton University and later attended Sheridan College for a postgraduate certificate in visual effects.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and billiards.
